Connecting with Te Ao Hangarau a kaupapa Māori creative digital space. Hear how the collective businesses utilise digital technology to tell traditional stories in a modern way. Interact with some of the tools and techniques they use such as design, illustration, animation, film, web, mobile, virtual and augmented reality. Learn about how each organisation started and developed into the largest collective of digital Māori creatives in Aotearoa. Get a preview of some new resources and stories being developed by the squad.

Speakers

Hori-Te-Ariki Mataki. Born, raised and educated in Aranui, Christchurch > Leveled up at Ara in Design and Animation > Started Ariki Creative in 2007 and is now one of the Digital Natives of Te Ao Hangarau... "Ko au te hiko, ko te hiko ko au"
Sampson has a background in journalism and is a former correspondent for Māori TV. He is passionate about storytelling and that drove him to start Manu Media in 2013, a video production company that works with education providers, local government, Iwi and many more national brands in the commercial and charitable sectors.
Vincent Egan - Maui Studios Aotearoa – we are a diverse creative and innovative design studio immersed in Te Ao Māori and the burgeoning Taniwha Economy. We live the Myths and Legends that we create and are committed to the strengthening of a modern and steezy bi-cultural Aotearoa.
